It was the 'yeast' Class 2 could do for Science Week!

Lesson: Science

Class: Class 2 Year: 2018 - 2019

Class 2 had great fun exploring the chemical reactions that take place when making a mixture of yeast, water and sugar. We discussed how it was a fair test and which variable would change. The children carefully measured a mixture of yeast and warm water into a plasic bottle. We had a control of just yeast and water.

Next, the children added the 'food' for the yeast - the sugar. After attaching a balloon on the top, they watched what happened next.  Look at their faces as the balloons started to inflate!

After the investigation, it was a Y1 boy who said: " There was a gas made which had to go somewhere so it went up into the balloon and got bigger".
