General Election

Lesson: British Values

Class: Class 3 Year: 2019 - 2020

On Thursday 12th December 2019 was the general election...in class 3!

First we recapped what parliament was and how it affected different things in all of our lives. We discussed why we had a general election and what happens during general election day, as well as discussing democracy and how we all have the opportunity to have our voices heard.

We took some time to read through all of the different parties’ manifestos and decided independently which party we would like to vote for.

The pupils then had to make the decision if they would like to register to vote, it turned out all of us did!

We had our own polling station that the pupils came to, they collected their ballot paper and placed their vote into the ballot box.

Our special team of counters emptied the ballot boxes and ensured all ballot papers added up correctly to the amount of pupils that voted, luckily they did!

It was announced today, Friday 13th December 2019, that Labour won by a large majority. However, each party gained at least one or more votes!
