International Day of Languages

Class: Oak and Acorns Class Year: 2026 - 2027

Our EYFS children have had a wonderful time celebrating International Language Day!

We have been exploring flags from around the world and using Google Earth to discover where different countries are located. The children have loved looking at maps, finding different places and talking about how far away they are from us.

We enjoyed sharing our own experiences too, talking about places we have visited and remembering any words or phrases we learned while we were there. It was lovely to hear the children sharing their experiences with one another.

We also had lots of fun singing a “Hello” song in different languages, listening carefully to the different sounds and having a go at saying the words ourselves.

It has been a fantastic opportunity for the children to develop their understanding of the wider world, celebrate different languages and cultures, and share their own experiences
