Black History Month
Lesson: History
Black History Month saw the school come together to celebrate the theme of Standing Firm in Power and Pride. The children across each class took part in assemblies about the history of Black History Month whie Years 1 to 6 developed their knowledge further through their Reading and English sessions, including learning about important figures such as Rosa Parks, Harriet Tubman and Maya Angelou. The children also researched the artists Alma Thomas and Chris Ofili before creating their own artwork inspired by these fabulous artists. Class 3 also collaborated to create a giant Pop Art poster about Martin Luther King Jr.
